Baller Shot Caller

Baller Shot Caller

What does that even mean?  Well for those who do not know, a baller is a great basketball player and shot caller is a military marksman who hits its target.  Who would not want to be known as great and always hitting your target, sound like our Laker Legend Kobe Bryant, right?  Could be the inspirational Oprah Winfrey who built a media empire.  Perhaps, Steve Jobs, anyone have an apple phone?

In order to be a baller, shot caller one must be authentic to themselves. BOOM, drop the mic!!!  We are all created with unique abilities and talents. However, in the high stakes game of life, we start comparing. Wow, I can never be Kobe!!! I could never be an Oprah!!!  The thing is you are right, and you are wrong.

How are you right?

You cannot be Oprah, you cannot be Kobe, you cannot be Steve Jobs. However, you can be your best you. Learn your talents and hone them to be the best at whatever role you are in. If you are a CEO, be the best boss. If you are a housekeeper, clean like you are cleaning for a higher power. Do not be ashamed of anything you are and do.  The secret magic sauce these folks had is they had the ability to listen, learn, and discipline, and hard work.  They listened to themselves, they were coached by others, listened to the public, and put it into action.  They were determined, resilient and authentic.  Now, some things they learned were good and others were bad, but they sorted and filtered and stuck to their authentic self. You need to do the same.

How are you wrong?

You can learn from them, what my friend and executive coach Julie Landi calls the “The Rules for Optimal Living.   All of them rise early, meditate/think, exercise, avid readers, then start their days. They are organized.  They are disciplined.  They coach and receive coaching. They work hard and are completely focused on their goals.  Everyone can do this. Everyone can be this.  How bad to you want it?

Come on, do it, be it and live it. You know you are a baller shot caller!!!!
